This 4th of July in Skagway we celebrated the 50th anniersary of Alaska being a state. It was such a beautiful day in Skagway, reaching up to 86 degrees(not normal). This 4th was complete with a parade, BBQ, annual duck derby, and lots of ice cream!! The parade theme was centered on the anniversary of the state. Every year my employer does a float for all 4 of their business combined into one. This year we sort of had 2 floats though. We all had a part to play in the float. It took us 2 nights to complete the float, it was so worth it. We also got to go out on Karla and Duffs boat with Kristen and Phil to do a little fishing!! but we were unfortunately skunked....maybe next time.
